What I Learned While Tailgating

If you know me, you know that I am a huge Mets fan. No matter how many games they lost, I still believe! Sal is also a huge Mets fan, which is probably why we get along so well during baseball season. If he was any other MLB fan, let's just say we probably wouldn't be together almost 5 years later.

Did I mention Sal is a very spur of the moment type of guy, so when he called me one afternoon telling me we were going to a Mets game and that he was inviting a bunch of people to tailgate, I wasn't surprised, nor was I against it (especially because it was against the Yankees). We've never tailgated at a baseball game, so we thought we knew how it went - bring hamburgers, hotdogs, beer, and a grill and you were set. Well we were wrong about that.

It started off great - we set up our chairs, started to heat up the grill, and begin snacking on the chips. It took a turn for the worst, as soon as we opened up the beer. Little did we know, you're not supposed to have open containers of alcohol in the parking lot of Citi Field, in NY. We thought that when the cops rode over on their bikes that they were just going to check our ID. We were prepared for that; what we weren't prepared for was the summons, two of them to be precise. Sal and his friend were asked if the cops could see their IDs. They checked them, and then handed them a $25 summons for having open containers, but not before they joked around with us - acting like they were going to arrest Sal! The look on our faces, as well as the cops, was priceless! The one cop couldn't even keep a straight face, he started laughing!

So...

1. Don't drink from open containers while tailgating, but do joke around with the cops, and make sure you bring cups, so you can continue to drink.

2. Don't go to a Mets game, with Yankee fans, when they're playing the Yankees. It's just not good luck, hence why we lost.

3. Do go with one of your best girl-friends, so you can make fun of the uneducated comments said by the girls who know nothing about baseball. 

4. Don't say "It looks like rain" at a baseball game, ever. It will in fact rain. 

5. Make sure that while raining and running to your truck after the game, dance a little, because that's always fun! I mean you're already wet, right?!

The Mets didn't win, but we had an awesome time, and we will definitely be tailgating in the future!

An Adventurous Sunday

Well many things happened these last couple of days that I need to dedicate to individual posts. First though, I wanted to post about a recent trip my boyfriend and I took, spontaneously. 


Saturday night, June 12th, my boyfriend told me he wanted to go to the Mets game on Sunday. He then proceeded to tell me that the Mets were playing in Baltimore, Maryland, against the Orioles. I was quick to hesitate as to whether we should take the 3 1/2 hour drive down there, especially when the game started at 1, in which we needed to leave by 6:30 A.M in order to get to early enough to grab some lunch beforehand. So needless to say, after much convincing, my boyfriend and I began our day trip. 


The car ride the morning of wasn't too bad, after he got me out of bed. I mean 6:30 A.M is a wee bit too early for me during the summer. I like to try and sleep in on the days I can because lately with school and work I've had no time to sleep in. Anyways... the car ride consisted of me sleeping.. through pretty much all of it. haha whoops. When we go there, we parked and began to walk around Inner Harbor, which is absolutely beautiful and made me want to move there the second I saw it. However, I've heard Baltimore isn't the best city to live in, especially at night. But that's besides the point.

After exploring the city for a little, we then headed over to Camden Yards for the Mets v. Orioles game.

When we were let into the ballpark at 11:30, we quickly found out that we weren't allowed into the actual ballpark until 12:00. We could only buy from the concessions stands. It was quite annoying when we were trying to catch the batting practice, hence the reason why we came so early. However, we still enjoyed ourselves at the ballpark. The food [burgers and fries] were excellent. 

The only bad thing about our trip was the weather. It was over 90 degrees, and for two people who forgot sunscreen and were wearing black/capri sweats, it was killer. I seriously don't know how we made it. We ended up sunburnt just a tad on our faces and arms. The good thing about my skin is that it quickly turned into a tan, so now I'm a nice bronze color :] 

The Mets eventually took the win! We were so happy, not only did we get to enjoy a new stadium [and mark it off our list], but we also got to see our team win. I don't want to bore you with the billion pictures  we took, but above are just a few that capture parts of the game. 

After the game we enjoyed dinner at Phillips, which is famous for their crab. My boyfriend had steak [of course] and I had a caesar salad with crab cake. It was delicious! I actually tried Mussels. I was so nervous, but I'm glad I did it. See I'm following through with this list we have, trying new foods. 

The way back home took 5 hours because of traffic. What could've been miserable, ended up being extremely fun. 

I think everyone should take road trips like this one. Not only does it bring two individuals closer, but it's a great experience. 

At times I bleed orange and blue...

Due to the METS winning against the Yankees last weekend, the Empire State Building lit up blue and orange. It was absolutely amazin' to see my team colors up there for all to see. Therefore, S and I went to 'our spot' and caught the amazin' scene on camera. 

Ahh the joys of the city... or at least the view of it.

However, after awhile, my boy got a little tired of just staring at the Empire State Building and this is what occurred..

But that's why I love him :]

That was my day in just a few of the many pictures I took. Our seats were great, and although we didn't catch any fly balls [in left field], we watched our amazin' mets together :] I got a little sunburn, but it was totally worth it! This helped my frustration and my boyfriend made me smile.

GREAT NEWS ! I will be going to OPENING DAY AT CITI FIELD ! METS v. MARLINS! My boyfriend bought the tickets last night :D !


I'm so excited! I've never been to an opening day game so I cannot wait to see what it's all about. Baseball/Softball is by far my favorite sport, and the Mets are my favorite team! I love the smell of the stadium, the atmosphere filled with people rooting for the Mets, the crack of the bat, the apple coming up out of the hat when they score. This is seriously one of my favorite things about Spring/Summer. I cannot wait until Monday. 

This is from just one of the may games I've been to with my boyfriend. :] Out of all seven games we went to together last year, they won! So now I'm supposedly a good luck charm. However I am not a good luck charm when I go to watch my boy's football games. Hmph.
